SERVICE PROCESS

Meeting Your Expectations

Cavan Private OT Services supports Parents needs from the first point of contact, by listening to parents concerns and setting goals using 3 simple steps.

Initial Assessment

Comprehensive assessment to identify children’s needs and match parents expectations.
Our initial assessment process is quick, comprehensive, needs-based and target specific.

Intervention

Interventions are goal-oriented and achieved through multi-element treatment approaches.

Each and every children are different and they need different treatment approaches to achieve their goals. Intervention strategies are carefully chosen based on Child’s needs and learning abilities. During intervention, children are provided with the best level of opportunity to learn, master their skills and use those skills for functional independence.

Educating Parents

Educating parents is a top priority in intervention.

The approach focuses on parents’ education into intervention process. We use simple language for better understanding of intervention. Last but not the least, every child is provided with a simple home program to achieve their goals with no additional cost.

Marte Meo (Social & Emotional)

Marte Meo has proven to be a very useful approach to enhance social attention, support language and communication development and social interactions. Specially children with autism lack all these competences and they have to be developed. Marte Meo is also very useful because the approach guides parents and teachers and develops natural supportive behaviour, which is used all the time. Children get daily support through their parents and not only during therapeutic sessions. The intense collaboration with the parents is based on the newer ecological and interactive concepts of child development, which emphasizes the importance of the environment and the interaction that takes place in it.

Multi Element Behavioural Support

Multi-Element Behaviour Support(MEBS) model is an approach that acknowledges the idea that difficult behaviour is a language used by people who, have no other way to relay their message. The behaviour becomes unnecessary, when the behaviour finds a voice. It is based on a two-part assessment that involves ‘getting to know the person’ and ‘getting to understand the behaviour.’ This assessment forms the foundation for a multi-element behaviour support plan that focuses on not only reducing the behaviour, but also on improving the person’s skills and lifestyle.

Therapeutic Listening

Therapeutic Listening is a specific sound-based intervention that is embedded in a developmental and sensory integration perspective. The music in Therapeutic Listening gives the listener unique and precisely controlled sensory information. The music is electronically modified to highlight the parts of the sound spectrum that naturally capture attention and activate body movement, synchronizing it with the environment. Therapeutic Listening uses electronic modifications, along with the organised rhythmical sound patterns inherent in music to trigger the self-organising capabilities of the nervous system.

Developmental Approach

This approach focuses on growth and development throughout the lifespan of the human body, which evolves into a unique and dynamic individual. The developmental approach explores the lifespan cycle of children.
Human body develops over time in different attributes,  which makes a person: biological, physical, social, emotional and cognitive (Kramer et al 2003; Cronin and Mandich 2016).  Individual gradually changes and adapts from completing simple tasks to a more complex level of function (Cronin and Mandich 2016), therefore are constantly learning and developing new skills to improve their occupational meaning in life.
